Are all your classes HOT?
Certainly not. More than half of our classes at Set and Flow are room temperature. Cardio Boxing, PSY • CYCLE, HIIT and Reformers are all non-heated.
Why does my friend think you are just a yoga studio?
Set and Flow started as a Hot Yoga/Fitness studio. We are proud of our yoga heritage and try to incorporate mindfulness, breath and community into all our workouts. Since opening in 2016 we have vastly expanded our product and facilities to include all your favorite non-heated fitness classes. Hiit, Cycling, Boxing, Reformers… All the things!
How do I enter Set and Flow?
There are two entrances to Set and Flow Yoga. If you are walking, please come in the La Brea Ave. entrance. If you come in through the garage, there is an access door by the leasing center.
What should I expect my first time?
Please arrive 15 minutes before class so we can sign you in and familiarize you with the studio. If you would like a more in-depth studio tour, please call and one can be arranged. All intro offers require proof of residence within 5 square miles of Set and Flow Yoga.
What do I wear?
Wear athletic attire. Mostly hot yoga wear. It whisks away sweat, breathes better and you can move easier regardless if it’s burpess or downdog.
Cycling shoes are required for PSY • CYCLE SPD or Look Delta cleats. Rental shoes available.
Sneakers required for Hiit and recomended for Cardio Boxing.
What do I bring?
Bring a friend, bring a smile… Everything else you can purchase or rent from us. Yoga mat, boxing gloves, cycling shoes, towel and bottled water suggested.
Are there lockers?
Yes, and you don’t have to bring a lock. All the lockers at SFY are self coding. If you do forget your code, don’t be surprised if our front desk staff makes you do 10 pushups or 10 squats. If you forget your code twice, you’ll be asked to do 10 pushups and 10 squats.
Do you have any Slow Flow or basic stretching classes?
As a matter of fact, we do. Look into our Restorative and Yin classes.
Can I tip my instructor?
We recommend $1/class. Our instructors very much appreciate gratitude. There are tip boxes with the instructor’s names on the wall adjacent to the lockers. Tips help our instructors know that you like their class. It also helps to support them doing the thing they love and further their education.
Our instructors rely on your generous tipping. It’s good karma and kale ain’t free!
What happens if I arrive late?
We apologize but there is NO LATE ENTRY into class. There are several reasons including safety and respect for other students in practice. Fortunately we are likely have another class starting in 15 minutes.
Do you sell annual memberships?
Yes, we do sell annual memberships. They are a one time payment, non-refundable, non-transferable bargain.
Are there teacher trainings?
Yes. If you want to learn to teach yoga, pilates, bootcamp, etc., we actually have a full service teacher training academy adjacent to the Set and Flow Studio. You can visit www.setandflowacademy.com for more information.
I forgot my mat and towel. What do I do?
You can rent a mat and/or towel from us!
Is it okay to eat before class?
We recommend you don’t eat anything heavy for at least two hours before class. Do drink lots of water.
Will I be charged if I sign up for a class and don’t show up?
$5 will automatically be billed to your credit card if you don’t show up for a class you have pre-registered up for. SFY has a 2 hour cancellation policy.
Can I reserve a spot in the room for my friend?
All spots are first come, first serve. Customers who arrive first have priority.
Are all of the pricing options Auto-billing?
Nope. We have lots of options including day passes, 10 packs, etc. Visit our membership page for more details: https://setandflowyoga.com/memberships/
Does the “Pause” count towards my monthly commitment?
The “Pause” does not count towards your monthly commitment. In other words, if you agree to a six month commitment and you “Pause” for months 2 and 3, two additional months will be added to the tail of the commitment. Pause is 30 days minimum.
Is there a water fountain?
Yes, in the back by the yoga room. It’s filtered, it’s environmentally friendly and it’s great for filling up Set and Flow water bottles.
Can you make the room hotter?
Are you nuts? We top out at 105 f. If you want it hotter than that, there is a 26 studio somewhere nearby.
Why did you change the schedule?
It is inevitable that our class schedule will change. The instructors on the classes will also change. We do our best to accommodate the wants and needs of our customers but a studio schedule is a living thing. It grows, it matures, it changes. It SETS and it FLOWS.
I have an injury, is it okay for me to workout?
I’m not a doctor, I just play one on TV.
Yoga and fitness instructors are constantly probed on what to do about injuries. Please understand, yoga and fitness instructors are not doctors. They are not qualified to judge what you can and can not do. If you have a injury or health related question, please consult your physician. If you do ask an instructor if you are qualified to take a class, we will insist you bring a sign off from your physician.
Can I put my auto-pay membership on hold?
Yes, you can “Pause your Flow.” For $20/month we will put your membership on hold. You can even take 1 class/month during your pause period. To “Pause your Flow” email: info@setandflow.com and request your account be paused for the next pay cycle. We do not pause membership once your cycle has already started. “Pause your Flow” is a 30 day minimum.
Can someone else use my membership?
No. All customers must have their own profile. Memberships can not be split, transferred or shared.
I’m a beginner, what class do I take?
All of our classes except for the ones marked *advanced are open to beginners. Please tell the instructor if it’s your first time and they will place you in the appropriate section of the room and give you added support. As a beginner, we advise that you take breaks, watch people in the class and familiarize yourself with the sequencing. What seems foreign now will soon become second nature. Try to stay in the room and have fun.
Why can’t I use my glass water bottle in the studio?
We understand the benefits of glass water bottles unfortunately the benefits do not outweigh the risks. Broken glass is a serious hazard in a barefoot studio and glass break happens with glass water bottles more than you might think. If you want me to send you a picture of my friend with glass all cut up in her foot, I can and will. Fortunately it didn’t happen at Set and Flow.
We highly recommend Hydroflask hydration. They are BPA and Phthalate-Free and our instructors love them. We sell them up front.
What is the name of the dog running around the studio?
That’s Jazz, the studio mascot. She’s a Standard Poodle mix Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. No, you can’t steal her. IG: jazz_and_flow
